Sleep seems to be essential for a person's mental and physical well-being, but if you, or your spouse/partner, suffers from snoring, you may not be getting all the sleep that you need. While the family members of a person who snores are all too aware of the problem, it should also be noted that the snorer may also be disrupting their own sleep patterns! In extreme cases, a person who snores may wake-up as many times each night, without being aware of it. The effect of this is to deprive the sufferer of sufficient sleep, and this can cause a variety of symptoms such as daytime fatigue, irritability and slow reaction time, as well as in the long-run, contributing to over health problems and perhaps more serious illnesses. If you or a family member suffers from snoring, the first step is to take the problem seriously - lack of sleep is a serious problem! I would also strongly recommend that you discuss the issue with your doctor - snoring can both a problem in itself, and it may, in some cases, be an indication of other possible problems. Seeing your doctor will allow a proper diagnosis, and allow you to get a understanding of the alternatives, including possible treatments.
